Some highlights from the March BRWA newsletter:
Bills introduced into a special session of the Arkansas legislature threatened to undermine due process related to the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality’s decision to deny a permit to C&H Hog facility located within the Buffalo River Watershed. Public pressure resulted in major changes to the final bill which became Act 10. The law no longer impacts the current legal process involving C&H.
A joint Audubon/National Park Service study reveals birds will become increasingly dependent upon national parks as refuges in a warming world. Details from the study indicate that the Buffalo National River will be vital to birds especially in the winter.
