Baker Prairie Walk, Mel Harness, Tuesday, April 24, 5:30 p.m.
April 24 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Join Mel Harness and Buffalo National River Partners on a native walk through Prairie Baker. Mel Harness is a native of Boone County and has always loved to learn about the native plants of our area. Mel and his wife Darla reestablished a 20 acre tallgrass prairie on their farm twenty years ago. They love to share with others their knowledge and fondness for the plants and animals that rely upon a native landscape. Mel and his daughter Hannah have also distilled some of the native plants they grow and produce essential oils from them. Additionally, Mel recently built a new public pavilion that is a gift from the Friends of Baker Prairie and the Arkansas Game and Fish. We will start our tour from there. Parking is available at the Harrison Middle School.
The walk is mowed trail and should be suitable for all people.
