Boxley Mill and Wildlife Viewing–Weekends in October and First Weekend in November–Volunteer Opportunity
October 7 @ 10:00 am - November 5 @ 2:00 pm
As in past years, the historic Boxley Mill will be open for tours on Saturdays and Sundays in October (Oct. 7, 8, 14, 15, 21,22, 28,29). Additionally the Mill tour will be available Saturday and Sunday, November 4,5. Many volunteers will be needed for these weekends.
Thousands of visitors come to Boxley Valley during the fall to see fall foliage, to hear the elk bugling and just enjoy the cooler temperatures. There are several “stations” where volunteers will be needed: The Mill, Hwy. 43 turnout, Lost Valley trail, and Ponca Access. Usually there are two people at each station to answer questions either about the Valley, the trail, the elk, and, sometimes where the closest restaurants are located and other traveler questions. On a couple of occasions we may need more.
The Park is asking our volunteers to sign in at 9:30 at the Hwy. 43 turnout (just past Ponca) and to pick up your supplies (radio, vest, information for visitors, etc). We will work our stations from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. each day.
We will update this site every Monday morning during the month of October so you can see the days we need volunteers. Here are the needs as of October 16.
Saturday, November 4–1 Volunteer
As always, we appreciate the hard work of volunteers during this very busy season.
