Lower River Cleanup September 29 in Celebration of National Public Lands Day
September 29, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
WE ARE NOT RECEIVING NOTIFICATIONS WHEN YOU SIGN UP TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RIVER CLEANUP ON SATURDAY. IF YOU SIGNED UP ONLINE, PLEASE CONFIRM WITH ALETHA TETTERTON THAT YOU PLAN TO ATTEND AND WILL NEED A CANOE. HER NUMBER IS 870-416-4699.
We will tentatively meet at 9:30 at the Hwy 14 bridge for a shuttle to Spring Creek. Buffalo River Float Service will provide canoes and shuttles, so signing up is a must. The Partners are holding this cleanup on a Saturday so that those who work during the week have the opportunity to join in the cleanup. If you have never done a river cleanup, we urge you to give it a try. You will meet some fine folks, make the river look better, get some fresh air, and enjoy our public lands.
You will need to bring a packed lunch, drinks, tools. We will have a few shovels and grabbers, but cutters, pry bar, hoes, or other tools for extracting trash. The partners will provide bags, gloves, a snack, and extra drinking water.
Also, the Partners would like everyone to be aware that the Buffalo is experiencing significant algae growth. Some of the algae may be hazardous. As a precaution, anyone with health issues including cuts, or open wounds, should consider their health first. Gloves and hand sanitizer will be available. It is recommended that water bottles be kept out of direct contact with the river water.
