It has been an excellent growing season—for weeds and grasses—in the gardens around the Tyler Bend visitor center. They need some serious attention.

What to bring: Bring your snippers, clippers and diggers! Sunscreen, work gloves, tubs for weeds. Bring whatever you would use in a garden that is overgrown.

Native plant swap: If you have native plants that have spread, pot them up and bring them along.

Where to meet for carpooling: Carpoolers meet at the Flippin Walmart to leave one hour (that’s 7:30 for the August 30th workday) before we begin work.

If it is a nice day we can picnic in the park, but if we need a cool break, we can stop for lunch on the way home. Big Springs is my personal favorite.
