North Arkansas College and Buffalo National River Partners invite the public to experience the beauty of spring in the Ozarks during a guided wildflower walk at Lost Valley Trail in Buffalo National River.

The walk will be led by Roger Brown, a Teaching Assistant at North Arkansas College, who will guide participants along the Lost Valley trail to observe and learn about native spring-flowering plants. Brown is an emerging young botanist with a strong interest in the flora of the Ozark Interior Highlands. Roger is a talented educator and enjoys sharing his knowledge of the native plant communities found throughout the region.

Spring is one of the best times to explore the Buffalo National River area, when woodland wildflowers bloom across the forest floor. During the walk, participants will learn how to identify common native flower species and gain insight into the ecological importance of these plants in the Ozark forest ecosystem in a way that is unique to Lost Valley.

The hike is considered easy to moderate, and the pace will be relaxed to allow time for discussion and exploration of the many natural discoveries encountered along the trail.

What to Bring: Comfortable hiking shoes, water, camera, and optional plant field guides.

The program is open to the public. Participants of all experience levels are welcome.
