“Bringing Back the Bobwhite”, Jessica Cox, Wildlife Biologist

March 26 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

As a Farm Bill Wildlife biologist with Quail Forever, Jessica Cox sts private landowners in the planning and implementation of wildlife habitat in Boone, Newton, Carroll, Marion, and Searcy Counties. Working in conjunction with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), she provides technical assistance to landowners and assists them in signing up for cost-share assistance through both State and Federal programs.

Jessica has a biology degree from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. Before joining the Quail Forever team in December of 2017, she worked as the water quality technician for the Sebastian County Conservation District and as a technical service provider for NRCS.

In this program, Jessica will talk about what “Quail Forever” is and what is being done in Arkansas to help landowners create and maintain quality habitat on their property, including services that are provided to landowners. There will be a brief discussion of the biology and life history of Bobwhite Quail and the various habitat components that make quality quail habitat, and how landowners can create these components on their property. Jessica will also discuss the cost-share and technical assistance programs that are available to landowners interested in establishing habitat.
