Ranger-Guided Hike to Steel Creek Overlook, 1:00 PM –  Join a ranger for a moderately strenuous, 2.8 mile round-trip hike on the Buffalo River Trail into the Ponca Wilderness to learn Leave No Trace ethics and experience the sights and sounds of the Buffalo River backcountry. This hike involves creek crossings, steep drop-offs, and 500 feet of elevation gain on the way to a sweeping overlook of the Buffalo River. Participants should bring drinking water, sturdy footwear, and snacks/sack lunch. Meet at the Buffalo River Trail trailhead near the Steel Creek Horse Camp. Registration not required. Dogs not permitted on the Buffalo River Trail.
